Bangpra International Golf Club is one of the oldest golf courses in the Pattaya area, built in 1958 and updated in the late 1980s, and still able to compete with some of the newer courses thanks to the mature trees that stand as a testament to the longevity of the course.
The course is best remembered for its long par 3’s – all of which are more than 180 yards from the blue tees and the 17th is particularly daunting as it plays more than 200 yards with water most of the way to the green. The par 5’s are also long and on the front 9 the par 5, 5th has a green partially protected by a water hazard so you need to be in the right position for your approach to the green. The par 5, 7th is the longest hole on the course measuring 623 from the back tees but fortunately most of it is downhill so it’s just about reachable in regulation for most of us.
The back nine is a bit of a let-down after the front nine and is much flatter with wide open fairways with only light rough along the edges. However this doesn’t mean that you will score well as there are a number of difficult holes. These include the two par 3s, the 12th and the 17th which demand long tee shots over water. The stretch of holes form the 12th also involve water carries to often elevated greens which due to their shape tend to throw balls off into the surrounding swales. Nice easy finishing hole with a wide open fairway which should mean you are in good spirits as you end you round.
Unusually the excellent clubhouse offers Japanese-style baths and Japanese cuisine in the restaurant so if your round has not gone according to plan then you can relax and enjoy a great meal.
