Opened in 1932, the Alex Russell-designed East Course offers golfers a great experience that complements the neighbouring West Course and is widely regarded as one of the top 100 courses in the world.
The East Course starts and finishes on the main site and is highlighted by seven ‘home paddock’ holes. The bunkers are excellent and the greens, although smaller than those on the West Course, are equally beautifully constructed and sloped. It combines some of the most dramatic undulations on the course, with excellent short, long and medium par 4 starts, challenging and interesting from tee and birdie to double bogey. It begins with the short par 4 15th and the bunker-laden 16th, the flattest of the two ‘home paddock’ holes on the course, but also one of Melbourne's best and most underrated par 3s.
