In a manner of speaking, Nanjing Sun Island is a golf course created by the Almighty. The entire layout is nestled in a natural setting, imposing and awe-inspiring; uphill and downhill; sparkling running waters flowing into ancient lakes; and, scattered all over, lush growths of flowering plants and trees. These are the wonders of nature blending harmoniously with the familiar man-made features. Nanjing Sun Island is naturally full of surprises: still air overhanging one fairway changing unexpectedly into a gusty wind in the next hole or teeing from a hilltop down to a hidden green or involuntarily pausing just to take in the scenery. The natural layout of the course coupled with the ever-changing elements makes golfing in Nanjing Sun Island a truly challenging experience. Pleasantly outstanding are the original trees and plants having been spared the axe during the course construction. Of course, credit must go to the maintenance crew for having nurtured the lush greenery extraordinarily.
