This course is located in the Hua Hin Beach Resort overlooking the Gulf of Thailand. The Royal Hua Hin Golf Club course is often referred to as the ‘railway’ golf course as it winds through the mountains behind the Hua Hin railway station.
Originally built in 1924, the Royal Hua Hin Golf Course is the oldest 18-hole international standard golf course in Thailand and is steeped in history.
The course is adjacent to Hua Hin's main railway station and is within easy reach of visitors from Bangkok and other parts of the country. The course is only 5 minutes from the city centre, making it easy to reach the course no matter where you live in Hua Hin. The good location makes it ideal for every Hua Hin golfing trip.
Designed by Scottish railway engineer A.O. Robins and renovated in the 1980s, the Royal Hua Hin Golf Course is only 6,678 yards in total length, which is relatively short by modern standards. Several of the fairways are very narrow and tree lined, and many of the greens are elevated and small, so accuracy plays an important role in a good score. Bunkers are present on most holes but are not too challenging and can be easily avoided by most players.
The 13th hole is a favourite for many visitors to Royal Hua Hin Golf Course, mainly because of the wildlife, a group of macaques stay in the trees and vegetation around the hole and if your ball goes off the fairway and out of bounds, they may think it belongs to them and you will lose the ball and not get it back.
