Course Introduction
Located in Incheon, South Korea, across the sea from Weihai, China, Sky 72 Club is near Incheon Airport, and the city center is an hour's drive away. Nearby attractions include Wolmido Island, beaches, food streets, and shopping malls. As the name "72" suggests, the club boasts four 18-hole courses: Sky Course, Ocean Course, Lake Course, and Classic Course.
The Ocean Course was designed by American golf star Jack Nicklaus. With a fairway length of 5819 meters, it is well-suited for women's competition and has hosted the LPGA Hana Bank Championship for many consecutive years; Kim Mi-hyun played her final professional tournament here. It is one of the most challenging courses in South Korea, built specifically for international championships and praised by renowned golfers worldwide. The course emphasizes natural beauty, with a perfect design that avoids artificial landscaping. Bunkers of varying sizes and undulating hills follow the unique fairways, adding endless charm. Even the par-3 and par-4 holes are longer than other courses, posing a challenge for beginners.
Sky Golf Course was awarded the "Asia Golf Awards - Best Golf Course in Korea" in 2018. The entire course comprises wide fairways, cliffs, mountains, and valleys, offering a breathtaking Grand Canyon experience. Players can also enjoy ocean views while hitting the ball. The course's style is similar to Arizona's Native American reservations, featuring natural rock formations. These natural rock formations, emerald lakes, and beautiful wildflowers create what is arguably Korea's most beautiful course. Designed specifically for championships, it has been the venue for the SK Telecom Open, a Korean men's tour event, since 2015. Covered in luxurious bentgrass, the course boasts top-notch quality. The fairways resemble a carpet where the sea meets the sky, and the dynamic shots provide a challenging, Arizona-like experience right here in Korea.
Lake Course is a Florida-style garden course with natural wetlands and lakes, offering a tranquil retreat. From spring to fall, a variety of flowers bloom, creating the feeling of strolling through a beautiful Florida resort garden. The course features various water hazards and lakes, demanding aggressiveness, distance, and accuracy from players. If you play normally, you can have a very easy time. However, if you take risks and choose an aggressive strategy, you'll either score highly or suffer a complete disaster.
This classic course has a Scottish style with diverse fairways. It's the first course in South Korea to eliminate artificial landscaping and utilize the original, rugged natural feel of the course. The course features various water hazards and lakes, combining heroic and penal elements, demanding a player's aggression, distance, and accuracy. If you choose a conservative playing strategy, you can play safely and steadily. If you use an aggressive, attacking style, you'll either achieve a high score or suffer a complete disaster.
